In the early 1990’s, I remember the Nursing Home staff being so helpful to me when I called my Grandma to talk with her by phone. I recall the positive stories my Dad told about how that same staff cared for and about my Grandma during her stay there.
Fast-forward to 2009 and I began working at a Skilled Nursing Center as Director of Social Services. I was part of a dedicated team of professionals, who cared deeply about the work we were doing, listening to residents and families, and caring for those receiving Short-term Rehab or Long-term Care assistance.
Over the past 2 years, as an Aging Life Care Manager with Choices in Senior Care, I have had the opportunity to visit clients at Skilled Rehab and Nursing Centers in the area, witnessing staff interacting compassionately with the families for whom they care.
May 8-14th is National Nursing Home week and the theme is, “It’s a Small World with a Big Heart”. Join us in thanking Skilled Rehab and Nursing Centers’ staff, who care with a “big heart” and are there for us and our loved ones when we need them!
