Savvy Caregiver Workshop

Family members talk to us about feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and lacking confidence in their skills when care partnering with a loved one living with dementia.  As part of our Caregiver Support Services at Choices in Senior Care, we have been offering the Savvy Caregiver Workshop: a 6-week, 12-hour Workshop series geared toward the family dementia caregiver.  This Workshop helps family caregivers increase knowledge and improve skills.  Often a shift in “outlook” also occurs when participants experience some “ah-ha” moments, while interacting in class with each other and the studying Workshop materials.

The Workshop is facilitated by Aging Life Care™ Managers from Choices in Senior Care.  Cognitive Stimulation sessions are also available each week for the person living with dementia, while their family caregiver attends the Workshop classes.

Completion of the Savvy Caregiver Workshop offers solutions to family dementia caregivers resulting in improved self-confidence in caregiving abilities and improved quality of life for both care partners, as well as increased flexibility to make needed changes as the disease progresses.  We discuss ways to approach caregiver self-care and how to make use of social support systems and community resources.

Our next Savvy Caregiver Workshop is almost ready to start.  Please join us for 6 consecutive Tuesdays at Fairview United Methodist Church in Maryville on 9/20/16 through 10/25/16, from 1:30-3:30 PM.  Registration is required and seats are limited.  The 6-week Workshop cost is $25.00 and scholarships are available.  Please contact us today at 865-978-6168 to reserve your seat for the Savvy Caregiver Training Workshop.  We look forward to working with you!
